Baraka reflects on time at university

Lincoln, Neb. —Four short years ago, Eugene Baraka first stepped foot onto the University of Nebraska-Lincoln campus, over 8,000 miles from home.  

Baraka was among 50 students from Rwanda who were recruited to come to the United States and study integrated sciences in the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources Undergraduate Scholarship Program (CUSP). He had never heard of Nebraska until he took the CUSP program acceptance exam.

Nebraska community invited to conference on zero hunger

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln is proud to join the Deaton Institute for University Leadership in International Development at the University of Missouri, alongside national and international partners, to participate in the inaugural "Within Reach" conference, with the theme of Zero Hunger, hosted virtually on April 12-15, 2021. Nebraska continues to use the U.N. Sustainable Development Goals as a lens through which we can analyze and mobilize our work towards grand global challenges.

Students encouraged to give research talks, compete with pitches towards zero hunger

CASNR Global Learning Hub increases international experiences for students

Lincoln, Neb. —The College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln has launched the new CASNR Global Learning Hub.

The goal of the hub is to give a greater number of student opportunities to have international experiences during their time at UNL, said Jon Kerrigan, Global Programs Manager for UNL’s Institute of Agriculture and Natural Resources. In addition, Kerrigan hopes the new hub can help students think about how they can apply those experiences to the real world.

Crises like disease outbreaks, feeding a growing world using limited resources, climate change, race and gender-based violence, economic inequality, access to education, and water insecurity are shining light on the fact that these issues affect many, if not all people, throughout the world.
