Dr. Melinda Camus | Dr. Janice Reis Ciacci Zanella

Dr. Melinda Camus

Dr. Melinda Camus currently serves as the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs at the Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine, a position that she has held since 2020. After graduating from veterinary school at Louisiana State University (LSU) and spending 5 years in small and mixed-animal practices, Dr. Camus completed her clinical pathology residency at the University of Georgia (UGA), where she remained on faculty for 10 years and served as the clinical pathology laboratory director before joining the Auburn administrative team. Dr. Camus is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) Council on Education (COE and is a member of the Board of Directors of the International Council for Veterinary Assessment (ICVA), the group that creates the North American Veterinary Licensing Examination (NAVLE).  She has also served as both secretary and president of the American Society of Veterinary Clinical Pathology (ASVCP).  Dr. Camus enjoys teaching and is committed to ensuring a welcoming environment for all.

Dr. Janice Reis Ciacci Zanella

Janice Reis Ciacci Zanella is a veterinarian graduated from Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG), Brazil, with a Master's and Ph.D. from the University of Nebraska, USA. She is a researcher at (Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation (Embrapa) in Animal Virology. Her scientific career focuses on animal virology, preventive medicine, and One Health, with emphasis on emerging and zoonotic viruses such as influenza, porcine circovirus, and hepatitis E. She has participated in several panels and committees of OMSA (OIE), FAO, WHO, and UNEP as a representative of Brazil. From 2014 to 2021, she was the General Director of Embrapa Swine and Poultry. Recently, she was a visiting scientist at USDA and postdoctoral fellow at Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa, USA.
